This chenille wrap or shawl has a velvety luxurious feel against the skin. The wrap can be worn many ways but one of my favourites is when it sits around your shoulders and upper arms with a half knot at the front. You can also wear it with a shawl pin which can either blend nicely with the wrap or be a feature in its self. It is very versatile and it packs nicely into a suitcase for when you head off on that trip away.
I have woven this wrap in a plain weave because the feature of this wrap is the yarn and the rich colours. There are stripes of cerise and purple with black as an accent.

Chenille is created by putting short lengths of yarn between two core yarns and twisting them together. This process forms loops which are then cut and this gives the classic fuzzy velvety feel of chenille. The yarn I used in this wrap as the warp was rayon chenille. Rayon is produced from natural sources which have been regenerated into cellulose fibre. The weft yarn is tencel which is produced by converting wood pulp into cellulose. Tencel and rayon chenille make a good match together which gives the wrap its drape and feel.
The chenille wrap measures 83 by 21 inches (211 by 54cm) this measurement excludes the fringe. The fringe is approximately 3 inches (7.5cm) long and has been twisted which as well as giving a nice touch to the scarf it also helps protect those warp ends from wear.
To care for your chenille wrap you will need to dry clean it.
The wrap will be delivered to you surrounded by tissue paper inside a box with our logo on the front.
