This is a warm winter weight alpaca scarf. It can be worn in several ways from simply hanging gracefully down or snuggled up around your neck. It does have a fluffy texture and I have found visitors to our studio who are allergic to wool find the texture not to their liking. We do have visitors however, that love the warmth and weight of these alpaca scarves.
The pattern I have woven this alpaca scarf in is called plaited twill which gives the illusion of weaving within weaving. The colours are a red and grey.
- Yarn type: Alpaca
- Colours: Red and Grey
- Size: 69” x 10” (175 x 25cm), excluding fringe
- Fringe: Yes, 4″ (10 cm)
- Care: Gently hand wash in warm water. Dry flat in shade.
The yarn I have used is 100% alpaca. The preparing, carding, spinning, weaving and finishing process of alpaca is very similar to the process used for wool. It is a soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fibre. Alpaca fibre is naturally water-repellent and fire resistant.
The scarf measures 69 by 10inches (175 by 25cm). The fringe is approximately 4 inches (10cm) long and has been twisted which as well as giving a nice touch to the scarf it also helps protect those warp ends from wear. The scarf has been hand stitched at either end which helps with preserving the scarf and also another feature to help complete the handmade look.
To take care of your alpaca scarf you will need to gently hand wash in warm water, separately from other items. Rinse. Lie flat in the shade to dry. If you think the scarf needs an iron then do so while it is still damp.
The scarf will be packaged in a black gift box with our logo on the front. Inside the box the scarf will be surrounded by tissue paper.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work.
